Roland McGee – Obituary

rolandRoland McGee passed away on September 15, 2016. Roland was a Huntsville native and graduated from Joe Bradley High School. He was a World War II Navy veteran and served on the battleship USS Washington, BB56.

After the war, he attended Auburn University on the GI Bill. Roland graduated in June 1950 with a degree in Business Administration. He retired from the Army Missle Command as a Supervisory Position Classification Specialist.

Roland was a charter member of the World War II Memorial Society and is listed in the Memorial’s “Registry of Remembrances.”

As a member of Honor Flight #2, on September 15, 2007, he visited the World War II Memorial and other monuments in Washington, DC. He was a strong supporter of the HuntsvilleMadison County Veterans Memorial. Roland and his family thoroughly enjoyed the Victory Day Celebration (August 10, 2015) at the US Space and Rocket Center. Roland was a “Life Member” of the Auburn Alumni Association and a long-time member of NARFE and AARP.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Gladys Moore McGee; and daughter Janice McGee, both of Huntsville. No services are planned. Burial will be private. Berryhill Funeral Home is assisting the family.
