Roland Lee Parrish, Sr., age 76, of Central Heights, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2013. Visitation will be Monday from 12-2 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Central Heights. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Bro. David Skipworth officiating. The burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Parrish was a groundskeeper at the Florence Golf and Country Club for over 43 years and was a member of the Rhodesville Baptist Church. He was a pastor for over 40 years and had the honor of officiating the marriage of all five of his children.
Roland was preceded in death by his parents Benjamin Dorman and Gladys Parrish; brother, Benjamin “Buddy” Parrish and sister, Christine Young.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Beasley Parrish; sons, Jerry Parrish, Roland Junior Parrish (Lucretia) and Donny Parrish (LaShawn); daughters, Cathy Rayburn (Joel) and Debbie Holt (Robert); brother, Ralph Parrish (Merilyn); sister, Lorene Fowlkes (George); eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Michael, Kyle, Benjamin and Levi Parrish, Bradley May and Adam Holt. Honorary pallbearers are T.J. Goodman, Robert Holt and Joel Rayburn.
