ROGERSVILLE-July 18 will kick-off the Rogersville Alabama Bluegrass Festival with Jamming in Heritage Park and Lee Street in downtown Rogersville. All jammers are welcome!!!!
The Rogersville Bluegrass Festival is in it’s 13th year and for the first time will now host both band and instrument competitions. Competitors will be competing for the Alabama Bluegrass Music Championship in banjo, mandolin, dobro and guitar.
Although the focus is the championship, a large part of the atmosphere will be music participation, camaraderie and jamming under the shade trees. We are improving the jamming area by turning down the volume from the stage and repositioning the speakers, so the jamming area is quieter.
We expect local participation. The North Alabama area is rich with traditional folk music, but, of course, we expect our of state entrants as well. The festival will promote our area’s Bluegrass foots and provide a performance platform for some of Bluegrass music’s established and upcoming talents.
Admission to the Festival is $8.00 for Friday and $10.00 for Saturday or both days for $15.00. Kids 12 and under are free. Thursday is Jamming in Heritage Park Night and is free to the public. Friday the day starts off with registration at 5:00 pm with Stan Nelson & Hurricane Creek performing at 6:00 pm and the competition beginning at 7:00 pm.
