Funeral for Rogers Hunt Jr., 65, of Hartselle will be Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at noon at St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church in Decatur with the Reverend Darryl Watkins officiating and inhumation to follow in Sterrs Cemetery. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral with Reynolds Funeral Home directing.
Rogers Hunt Jr. was born on November 14, 1947, to the late Rogers and Florence Lofton Hunt Sr. of West Palm Beach, Fla. He entered into eternal rest on June 9, 2013, in Huntsville. He was one of four siblings. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Tommy Bennett.
Rogers accepted Christ at an early age. He served as a committed and faithful Deacon at St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church until his health began to decline. Rogers graduated from Alabama A&M University. He labored in the workforce in various occupations with D.P. Associates and Boeing. He retired from Computer Science Corporation (CSC) in 2002.
His memory will forever be cherished by his loving and devoted wife, Frances Hunt; one son, Rogers “Pep” Hunt III (Rindia) of Birmingham; one daughter, Shuntay Byrd of Birmingham; one stepdaughter, Stayce Hoult (Horace) of Hartselle; two sisters, Madie McDougle (Tom) of Dover, Del., and Louise Brown (Eddie) of West Palm Beach, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Reneshia, Rogers IV, Christopher, Jared, Elijah, Miles, Zion and Trebien; two great- grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
