Roger Ravenscraft, 88, of Huntsville, passed away Thursday, December 21, 2023. Mr. Ravenscraft was born in Geary, Oklahoma, but spent most of his childhood in Kansas City where he graduated high school. After graduation he went to Kansas City Junior College and then transferred to Missouri University where he got his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
While in college he met Mary Lee Ravenscraft, his wife of 61 years. He had 2 children, Larry Ravenscraft and Sharon Lynn; 4 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.
Mr. Ravenscraft worked for Boeing as an engineer and led the Creep and Fatigue Program for 4 years. They moved to Huntsville in 1959 where he worked for Brown Engineering for 31 years. He studied the effects of nuclear weapons on structures and personnel.
His hobbies were woodworking, camping, boating, square dancing, playing cards and bingo. He was a member of the Holiday Rambler Recreational Vehicle Club and traveled with his wife and friends.
Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor David Hutto officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
