Roger Dean Beckham, aged 85, of Athens, passed away peacefully at his residence on Friday, September 26th, 2025. Born on December 14th, 1939, in Limestone County, he was the son of Robert and Inez Peete Beckham.
Roger is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 65 years, Betty Sanderson Beckham. He is also survived by his daughters, Angela Smith (married to Tim) and Kelley Lovell. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Hillary Yost (married to Josh), Hagan Lovell (married to Callie), and Olivia McNatt (married to Colby). Roger was a proud great-grandfather to Piper, Sadie, and Mackenzie Yost. In addition, he is survived by his step-grandchild, Jim Smith (married to Lindsey), and step-great-grandchildren, Hagen, Brantsen, and Addisen Smith.
Roger is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Inez Peete Beckham, as well as his parents-in-law, Hagan and Virgie Sanderson. He was preceded as well by his siblings Thomas, Donald, and Samuel Beckham, and his sister Peggy Black.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 30th, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:45 PM. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM, officiated by Eddie Littrell. Roger will be laid to rest at Limestone Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers are Tim Smith, Josh Yost, Hagan Lovell, Colby McNatt, Bryan Thornton, and Kyle Smith, with Chris Nave and Arlo Smith as honorary pallbearers.
Roger was a remarkable man who dedicated his life to his family and community. He served in the Army Reserves and National Guard from 1962 to 1968, demonstrating his commitment to his country. After retiring from a fulfilling career at 3M, Roger embraced his love for the outdoors, enjoying hunting and fishing. He was a faithful member of the Sardis Springs Church of Christ. Roger’s family, especially his grand and great-grandchildren, were his pride and joy. His warm presence and kind spirit will be missed by all who had the privilege to know him. Roger Dean Beckham’s legacy of love, faith, and devotion will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
