Rodney “Rod” Lynn Sisco, 54, of Albertville, Alabama, passed away on May 1, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.
Rod was born on April 10, 1971, to Ernest Sisco and Helen D. Sisco. Known for his warm heart, quick wit, and unmistakable voice, Rod lived a life deeply rooted in community, creativity, and love for his family.
A lifelong music enthusiast, Rod began working at WQSB as a teenager, and it quickly became more than just a job — it became his calling. For nearly four decades, he shared his passion for music with listeners across the region, becoming a familiar and comforting presence on the airwaves. His deep knowledge of music, friendly personality, and signature style made him a local favorite and earned him the friendship and admiration of many.
Rod was the proud father of three children: Savannah Jade Kessler (Greg), Asia Lane Johnson (Jeff), and Grant Sisco. He loved his children dearly and took great pride in the people they have become.
He enjoyed spending time with family, connecting with listeners, and filling every space with music and laughter. His memory will live on through the songs he played, the stories he told, and the smiles he gave us.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Helen Sisco; his nephew, Phillip Lamar Brown; and his nephew, Kevin Bradley Sisco.
He is survived by his children, Savannah, Asia, and Grant; his sisters, Gwendolyn Walker (Terry), Penny Norman (Kenny), and Jan Davidson; and his brothers, Jerome Sisco (Charla) and Wayne Sisco (Trish); along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
His funeral service will Sunday, May 4, 2025 at 2 p.m. at Albertville Memorial Chapel. He will be laid to rest at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in the Sims community. The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday evening from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and Sunday before the funeral from 12 p.m. until 2.
Pallbearers will be Grant Sisco, Greg Kessler, Jeff Johnson, Blake Clark, Jathan Brown, Andy Sisco, Travis Sisco and Mike Bethune.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Rod’s memory. Cash donations can be made at WQSB Radio station.
