Rodney Dale Barton – Obituary

Rodney Dale Barton, a resident of Columbia and long time employee of Chevy White Auto Sales and Bobby White Motors, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 7th at 6:30pm at Heritage Funeral Home with Bro. Rick Points officiating. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Rod was born November 7, 1963 in Eden, North Carolina and was the son of Jimmy Barton and late Doris Staples Barton. He spent many years working as a mechanic in the stock car racing. He worked with Bobby Hamilton and Joe Bedford in the pit crew. He also met Chevy White there, and soon became one of Chevy’s most dedicated employees for the next twenty years. He loved going to work every day, doing anything that was asked of him. He was in sales and mechanics. One of his favorite things to do was grilling out for the whole crew at Chevy’s. He enjoyed golfing and was looking forward to attending the Memphis PGA Tour.

He is survived by his father: Jim (Linda) Barton; daughter: Nicole Barton; grandchildren: Alex, Addison, and Tate; and brother by choice: James Chevy White.

He is preceded in death by his brother: Roy A. Barton.

Honorary pallbearers will be all employees of Chevy White Auto Sales and Bobby White Motor Company.
