Memorial service for Rocky Gillespie, 40, of Hartselle will be today, January 13, 2015, at 3 p.m. at Life Church located in the Hartselle Fine Arts Center at 307 College St. NE, Hartselle, Alabama 35640 with Pastor Danny Gibson officiating. Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. at the church.
Mr. Gillespie was born July 21, 1974, in Lawrence County. He died January 11, 2015, at UAB Hospital. Rocky fought the good fight and finished his race. He was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at six weeks old. Rocky received a double lung transplant in 2007 and was himself an organ donor after his death. The family would like to thank the staff of the Heart and Lung Transplant Intensive Care Unit at UAB Hospital. Not only did they provide exceptional care for Rocky and his family, they became like family themselves.
Survivors include his wife, Tara Gillespie; and one son, Blaine Williams.
