Robin Rae Ackley Kelso 70, of Rogersville, Alabama, passed away
peacefully in her sleep at her home after a brave battle with cancer on
August 14, 2025. Robin was born to Glenn and Shirley (Philp) Ackley in
Waterloo, Iowa on June 24, 1955. Formerly from northeast Iowa, she
attended schools in Garnavillo, Iowa, graduating from Guttenberg, Iowa
in 1973
Robin is survived by her husband of 25 years, Eric M. Kelso, and her
two sons, Casey Fierstine of Birmingham, Alabama, and Gabe Fierstine of
Kentucky. Grandsons, Gryphon Root from Florida, Woody from Birmingham,
Alabama, and granddaughter Cassel from Kentucky. Also, brothers, Gary
(Rusty) Duenow of Cedar Rapids, IA, Terry (Arlene) Ackley of Dubuque,
IA, Rick (Dianne) Ackley of Dubuque, IA, brother-in-law Dave Schmitt
also of Dubuque, IA. Sisters Cindy Ackley Ginetti (Fred) of Phoenix, AZ,
and Jamie (George) Ackley-Baker of Burlington, IA. Along with several
nephews and nieces,
Robin was preceded in death by her parents Glenn and Shirley Ackley,
sister Sue Schmitt, and nephew Eric Schmitt.
Per her wishes, there will be no services following cremation. May you
be free from pain and at peace, Robin. We love you!
