Robert Wilson Hudson Byrd, born May 17, 1946, in New York City to Eugene Spafford Byrd and Louise Hudson Byrd died in his home on Monday, January 12th

after a short illness.

He is survived by his wife, Lane Weaver Byrd and their daughter, Anne Lane Schubert, her husband, William, and three grandchildren, Annie Kate, Morgan and

Samuel; sister, Sally Rizzo of Staten Island; niece, Pamela and her children, Louie and Hope; nephew, John, and his son, Nicholas, and his granddaughter,

Serenity.

Robin attended the Cathedral School of St. John the Divine, Episcopal High School, University of the South-Sewanee and Vanderbilt Graduate School. During

his 40-year career as an educator, Robin served as a teacher, coach, administrator and headmaster at Christ School, Arden, NC, Christ Church Episcopal School, Greenville, SC, Montgomery Academy, Montgomery, The McCallie School, Chattanooga, TN, Hilton Head Preparatory School, Hilton Head,

SC, and Kerr Vance Academy, Henderson, NC.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 21st at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Decatur, AL. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. in the library with services at 11 a.m. in the church. He will be buried at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Staten Island, N.Y., at a later date. Memorials can be made in his name, Robert Byrd ’64, to Episcopal High School, 1200 N. Quaker Lane, Alexandria, VA 22302 or a favorite charity
