Robert Washington O'Neal Robert Washington O’Neal, age 68 of Winchester, TN, passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2021. He was a loving father, sibling, and friend. He was born March 18, 1952 in Corinth, Mississippi to the late Herman Merle and Betty Jean Seaton O’Neal. He spent his childhood years growing up in Winchester, TN after his family moved there in 1960. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior early in life. He was also an active in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes throughout his high school and college days.
Robert was a 1970 graduate of Franklin County High School where he excelled in academics and athletics, earning a four-year athletic scholarship to Vanderbilt University. He played for four years as a tight end for the Commodores football team and was also a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. He graduated summa cum laude from Vanderbilt in 1974.
Robert owned Landmark Sign Company in Houston, Texas. He was passionate about his work, company, and delivering exceptional products to his clients. Robert lived in Houston for over 35 years before returning home to Winchester, Tennessee in December of 2017.
His fun spirit, infectious smile, and boisterous laugh will forever hold a special place in all our hearts.
Preceded in death by his parents, Merle and Betty O’Neal, Robert will be remembered with love by his family; daughters, Allison O’Neal Peek and husband, Douglas Peek, Ashley O’Neal Holmes and husband, Zack Holmes, Ellie Heather O’Neal and Molly Elizabeth O’Neal; grandchildren Harper, Harrison, Hallie, Lochlyn and Lily Patrick; brothers, Greg and wife, Sheri O’Neal, John and wife, Kim O’Neal; sister, Andrea O’Neal Davidson; niece, Carrie O’Neal Tinsley and husband, Jeff Tinsley; nephews, Gregory O’Neal and wife, Karen O’Neal; Samuel Davidson and wife, Amber Davidson; Gavin O’Neal and wife, Maggie O’Neal; Carson O’Neal and eight grand nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. – 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will follow at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home, with Rev. Ronnie Pittenger officiating. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations please be made to the Franklin County High School Football Program in memory of Robert O’Neal; 833 Bypass Road, Winchester, TN 37398. .
