Funeral service for Robert Scott Newby, age 72, of Athens will be 2:30 PM on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at Parkway Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Lynn Terry officiating. Mr. Newby, who died Friday, December 1, 2023, in Athens, was born September 12, 1951, to Merritt and Virginia Newby . He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Bill Newby.
Mr. Newby was a police officer for 32 years, he also worked for the U.S. Marshall’s office and was a United States Marine. He loved his family dearly especially his children and grandchildren.
