Dr. Robert Paul Baker Th.D. aka “Doctor Bob”, “Mr. Jane”, “Brother Airplane Pilot”, 82, of Huntsville passed away in his home Saturday, October 9th at 3:34 am. Dr. Baker’s primary life work was serving his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and spreading the message of his Savior’s love. To fund that mission, he worked as a pilot for thirty years and as a “computer guru” for Intergraph and multiple friends and family.
He earned a bachelor’s degree from Heritage Bible College and then earned his masters and doctorate in Theology from Covington Theological Seminary. In 2006, Dr. Baker’s book, The Milk of The Word – A Theology Primer for New Christians, was published by AuthorHouse and is available for purchase online.
Dr. Baker is described as having been a teacher and spiritual leader; a rock and the “strong and steady” of his family. He had an infectious laugh that was easily identifiable and a passion to help others understand the love God has for them. He was an amazing man whose legacy will live on.
Still serving the Lord this side of heaven is his wife of 57 years, Jane Marsh Baker; his daughters, Deborah “Debbi” Guarin and her husband, John Guarin of Gurley, AL and Tambra “Tammy” Abla and her husband, Larry Abla of Madison, AL; four grandchildren, Savannah Renee Baugher of Huntsville, AL, Second Lieutenant Isaiah M. Walker, USMC and his wife, Second Lieutenant Gabriela Walker, USMC currently stationed Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, NC, Addysen “Addy” Jane Baugher of Huntsville, AL, Sara Grace Baugher of Huntsville, AL; and grandchildren by love and marriage, Justin and JoAnna Abla of Huntsville, AL, Kelsey Guarin of Birmingham, AL, and Jonathan and Emily Guarin of Atlanta, GA; great grandson, Wiley David Collier of Huntsville, AL; and sister, Joan Louise Baker of Live Oak, FL.
A Celebration of Dr. Baker’s life is planned for the weekend of Thanksgiving and will be held at Church of the Highlands, Huntsville, AL where Dr. and Mrs. Baker worship.
