Robert Newell Tidwell, Sr, 83 of Ardmore, Alabama peacefully passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2016.
He was born on December 13, 1933 in Talladega County, AL. He was the son of the late Jesse N. & Florence McKay Tidwell. He is preceded in death by his sister: Carolyn Sue Reaves. He was a longtime member of University Baptist Church, an ordained Deacon and a member of the Gideons. He was a Veteran of the US Marines and retired from the US Postal Service.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Dainie Tyson Tidwell, daughters: Kitty (Don) Weston, Carmen (Ed) Word, and son: Robert N. Tidwell, Jr., grandchildren include Ashley Weston, Lauren Weston (Brock) Snead, Matthew (Calen) Weston, Jessie (Michael) Sheran, Sarah Strange, and Parker (Naomi) Word, brother: Jerry Wayne (Patsy) Tidwell, and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, December 18, 2016, at University Baptist Church, Huntsville, AL with Rev. Eddie Hilderbrand and Rev. Kerry Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Madison Crossroads Cemetery, Toney, AL.
The family will receive friends from 1-2pm on Sunday at University Baptist Church.
