Robert Matthew “Matt” Elrod, 53, died Thursday, July 27, 2023 at his residence. He was born in Illinois, worked as a machinist and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Funeral services will be Saturday, July 29, 4 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Belmont, MS with Bro. Steve Daniel officiating. Burial will be in Joel Cemetery, Dennis, MS. Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS will be in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by a son – Drake Elrod; his mother – Martha Elrod; two sisters – Patricia Corban (Clay) and Tammy Moore (Billy); one nephew – Jason Corban and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Elrod, his grandparents, Bonnie and Vada Cruse and Foss and Bertha Elrod and a nephew, Andrew Moore.
His cousins will serve as pallbearers.
