It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Martin Clarke, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of April 4th. Robert, a proud resident of Huntsville, Alabama, was surrounded by loved ones at the time of his passing.

Born to the late Edward Stiles Clarke III and Margaret Irene Weaver, Robert was preceded in death by his two brothers, Edward Stiles Clarke IV (Stiles) and Marshall Clarke. He carried the memories of his parents and brothers with him throughout his life, cherishing their love and influence.

Robert is survived by his devoted wife, Jennifer Thompson, with whom he shared a life filled with love and cherished memories. He is also survived by his four children: Christina Woods (Jamie Woods), Amanda Stone (John Stone), Caroline Sanders (Huffman Sanders), and Jay Thompson. Robert was an adoring grandfather to four grandsons: Braeden Garlen, Caleb Garlen, Davis Woods, and Hayes Woods. These grandsons were the light of his life, and he loved them deeply. Robert was also a proud uncle to Coty Clarke, Courtney Region, and Luke and Mark Clarke. He loved his niece and nephews very much and was so proud of all of their accomplishments.

A man of incredible kindness and a truly remarkable sense of humor, Robert always went out of his way to help others, offering a helping hand or a listening ear whenever needed. His ability to bring joy to any room and make those around him smile was one of his most cherished gifts. He loved nothing more than seeing those he loved happy and was always eager to lend his support.

In honor of Robert’s passion for helping others, the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Make a Way Foundation in Athens, Alabama, in honor of his grandson, Caleb.

Robert’s legacy of love, laughter, and selflessness will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be dearly missed but forever remembered for his generosity, his warmth, and his ability to make life brighter for everyone around him.

A private memorial service will be held for immediate family, with a celebration of life to be scheduled at a later date.
