Robert Lewis Duling – Obituary

Robert Lewis Duling, 85, of Decatur died Sunday, September 22, 2013. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at Ridout’s Brown-Service Funeral Home. Graveside service will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Eastern Floral Hills Cemetery in Tucker, Ga.

Robert Lewis Duling was born in Atlanta, Ga., on February 21, 1928. He graduated Georgia Tech in 1950 and was recently honored by the school for faithfully attending games at Grant Field for 85 years. He moved to Decatur in 1956 and retired at South Central Bell with 38 years of service and worked 10 years with Boeing and retired. He was preceded in death by his parents, professor H.B. Duling and Kathleen Williams Duling.

He is survived by his wife, Bettye Johnson Duling and three children, Kathey Bacigalupo and husband, Ed, Brenda Callaway and husband, George, and Robert L. Duling Jr. and wife, Bonnye Fleming. He had one brother, Reverend H.B. Duling Jr. and wife, Betty; five grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; and special friend, “Tiny” Tim Rice.

The family would like to give special thanks to Hospice of the Valley and all the caregivers who made his last few months on earth more comfortable.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations be given to Hospice of the Valley.
