Robert Leon Stephens (Bobby), age 76, passed away from complications with Leukemia (AML) on Monday, Dec. 18, 2017. He was born on Feb. 18, 1941, in Nashville, Tennessee.
Bobby graduated from Sheffield (Alabama) High School in 1959 and moved to Pensacola in the early 1960s. He was involved in the mens clothing business for years and made many of his long-term friends as a result of selling them clothes. Bob never met a stranger and touched many people in his 50 plus years in Pensacola. Among his favorite activities was visiting daily with friends (Starbucks, Sonny’s, Cactus Cantina) while lending a caring ear or helping hand for their day-to-day issues. He was an avid football fan (Roll Tide) and loved attending UWF sports supporting the Argos. Bob was a member of First United Methodist Church and enjoyed attending multiple services on any given Sunday.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Scott.
He is survived by his brother, Barry (Darlene); two nieces, Brittany Williams and Somer Nelson; and several cousins.
A celebration of life in honor of Bob will be held at a place to be determined in January of 2018.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 6 E. Wright St., Pensacola, FL 32501 or Fellowship of Christian Athletes, 4900 Bayou Blvd. Suite 212, Pensacola, FL. 32503.
