Robert Lee Light, Jr. (March 14, 1941 – January 16, 2020)

Robert of Harvest, AL was born in Thebes, IL to Robert Lee Light, Sr and Jemima Darnell Light both deceased. He was married to Susan Knapp Light of Harvest, AL for forty-two years. Surviving children are Robert C. Light (Kim), Laura Light Campbell (Jim), step children, Lawrence L. Carpenter of Madison, AL; Elizabeth Carpenter Trenary (Bill) of Suwanee, GA., and James Michael Carpenter of Madison, AL. Grandchildren SSG Robert L. T. Brock of Ft. Polk, LA, Christopher Lee Ryan Brock of Lawrenceburg, TN, and Kelly Trenary Koenig (Kurt) of Dacula, GA and great grandchildren Lillian Lee Brock of Fairfax, Virginia; Andrew Light (deceased) Vienna, Va; Sarah, Jacob and Lucas Koenig, of Dacula, GA and Step-brother Curtis Balser of Lapel, Indiana.

Robert graduated from high school in Lapel, Indiana and received his Bachelor of Science in Physics at Rose Hulman Institute of Technology of Terre Haute, Indiana; and his Masters in Physics at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute of Hartford, Connecticut. He continued his education throughout his career at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, Alabama, the University of Arizona, the University of Michigan, and the University of Wisconsin.

He was very active in the Single Action Shooting Society (SASS) of America and enjoyed mentoring young engineers from the different companies he was affiliated with in Huntsville, Alabama.

There will be a Celebration of Life on January 25th at Berryhill Funeral Home in Huntsville, Alabama from 2:00-4:00 p.m. for friends and family.
