robertMr. Robert Lee “Chocolate” Noel, 75, was born March 26, 1940, to Clarence Noel and Jimmie Chandler Noel. He departed his life Sept. 1, 2015.
Robert attended the Florence City school system.
He entered the U.S. Army on Aug. 25, 1971. He earned a Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Vietnam Campaign and Service, Army Commendation Medal, Combat Infantry and Assault Badge and an Overseas Service Ribbon Time Five. He served 27 years in the U. S. Army before his retirement in 1998.
He was preceded in death by his mom, Jimmie Sue Chandler, and father, Clarence Noel Jr.
He leaves survivors to cherish his memories sisters, Linda Joe Swinney, Nina Howard, Cincinnati, Ohio, Birdia Noel Bean and Ann Noel Johnson (Bennie), all of Florence, Alabama; brothers, Charles Armstead (Annie), Henry Rowlett Jr., all of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Jerome Noel (Flecia), Nashville, Tennessee, Albert Noel (Brenda) and Bennie Noel (Patricia), all of Florence, Alabama; sister-in-law, Carolyn Barnett, Fort Wayne, Indiana; a very good friend, Andrew Bridges, Killen, Texas, and Idella King, Clarkville, Tennessee; caregivers, Vanessa Stinson, Clarksville, Tennessee, and Wanda Sydnor, Oak Grove, Kentucky; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Noel will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, 2015, at Mt. Moriah Primitive Baptist Church, Florence, Alabama, with Elder Leroy Sawyer, officiating.
The body will be placed in the church at noon. Burial is in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Florence, Alabama.
Public viewing will be today, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Thompson and Son Funeral Home, Florence, Alabama.
