Robert Lee “Bob” DeYoung Jr. went to be with his Lord on February 25, 2019. He was preceded in death by his caring wife of 65 years, Mary Kate, and his sister, Nellie Ann Risch. He is survived by his daughter, Lynn DeYoung of Huntsville; and his son, Bob DeYoung of Los Angeles.

Born in Huntsville in 1924, Bob graduated from Huntsville High School and attended the University of Alabama. He served three years in the Army in New Guinea and the Philippines.  He retired from the Army Missile Command with 31 years of service.  He served as director of The Church on the Lake, Guntersville for 45 years.  Bob’s greatest calling in life was to serve the Lord.  He had many friends in the ministry and was known as a man of God.

Visitation will be held from 12 to 1 p.m. Thursday, February 28 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. There will be a private graveside service with Sharon Olshefski officiating, and Mary Lou Walker will sing.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Big Oak Ranch for Children, P. O. Box 507, Springville, Al 35146-8998.
