Robert Lee “Bob” Danley, age 80, departed this earth for his Heavenly home Friday, Dec. 13, 2013, in Ft. Worth, Texas.

Bob was born in Florence on Sept. 18, 1933, to the late Elmer C. and Mamie Flynt Danley.

He was predeceased by five brothers, Elmer, Bill, Charles, Alfred, and Jim Danley; and by two sisters, Dorothy Nale and Mary Gann.

He is survived by a brother, Jerry Danley.

Mr. Danely was also predeceased by his wife, Joyce, and is survived by three children and their families. These include his son, Bobby Jr.; and two daughters, Diane Wray (Sam) and Cheri Souder (Frankie); and grandchildren, Angela and Frankie Souder Jr., Ashley Couch (Dale), Colton Davis, and Whitney Danley.

He was affectionately known as “Paw Paw Bob” to his two great-grandchildren, Cadence Joy Omas and Davin Couch. He will also be missed by his dog and companion of the last eight years, “Honey”.

In addition, he leaves behind nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Bob was a well-known businessman in the Diamond Hill area of Ft. Worth, having owned and operated Texaco service stations and a used car business until his retirement.

Mr. Danley was an avid football fan. He loved the Dallas Cowboys and the Crimson Tide. He also loved to travel and had an excellent memory, which included an amazing ability for recalling events, dates, and names.

A memorial service for Mr. Danley will be held on Saturday, Dec. 21, at 2 p.m. in the sanctuary of North Wood United Methodist Church. The church is located at 1129 Wills Ave., Florence, AL 35630. Pastors Dr. Carl Gebhardt and the Rev. Steve Reding will officiate. Following the service, a reception will be held in the Fellowship Hall of the church for those who wish to visit with the family.

Memorials honoring Mr. Danley may be made to the Prayer Garden Fund at North Wood or to a favorite charity .
