Robert Lawson age 77 of Smithville passed away Saturday October 24, 2026, at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital. He was born May 6, 1949, to his parents the late Lemmie and Ruby Estes Lawson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Dorothy Lawson; son, Christopher Lawson; sister, Frances Shultz and brother, Javin Lawson. Mr. Lawson was a member of Church of Jesus Christ and was a logger. He is survived by his wife, Betty Lawson of Smithville; sons, Clifford (Kathy) Lawson of Smithville, Eddie (Trinna) Lawson of Liberty, Anthony (Nakia) Lawson of Smithville; grandchildren, Nicholas (Brittany) Lawson, Brianna (Jon) Allen, Karissa (Justin) Murphy, Ashley Lawson (Michael Obrien) Jonathan Lawson, Holly Lawson, Erica Kersjes, Elizabeth Lawson; several great-grandchildren; brothers Billy (Linda) Lawson of Woodbury, Jimmy (Betty) Lawson of Oklahoma, Charlie Lawson, Terry (Evelyn) Lawson, Jerry (Virginia) Lawson, and Buck (Jenean) Lawson all of Smithville; sister, Janie Griffith of Smithville; sister-in-law, Cindy Lawson of Watertown; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Friday October 30, 2026, at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Jerry Lynn Lawson officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday 3 PM until 7 PM and on Friday 10 AM until the time of the service at 1 PM. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is honored to care for the Lawson family.
