Robert L. Smith, Jr., 77, of Decatur passed away Thursday, April 30, 2015 peacefully at his home. Mr. Smith was a member of the First United Methodist Church, he retired as the Administrator of Decatur General Hospital after 30 years of service. He was a Paul Harris Fellow with Rotary International and was the former Chairman of the Alabama Hospital Association. He is survived by his wife, Jeanne Smith; three sons, Steve Smith and wife Kathy; Scott Smith and wife Kenyon and Robert Smith and wife Gina; five grandchildren, Sarah Grace Smith, Caroline Elizabeth Keenum, Shane Smith, Jacob Smith and Evie Smith; one sister Harriett Honaker and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Saturday from 12:00pm until 2:00pm at First United Methodist Church with a service following at 2:00pm with Dr. Rudy Guess officiating. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Decatur General Foundation, 1st United Methodist Church Building Fund or your favorite charity. Hartselle Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family.
