Robert L. Gable- Obituary

 Mr. Robert L. Gable, 86 of Florence passed away Friday, October 5, 2012 at Mitchell-Hollingsworth. He was a native of Iron City, Tennessee and lived most of his life in Lauderdale County. Robert was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church, a U.S. Navy  veteran of World War II,  Masonic Lodge #14, American Legion Post 11, Electrician Local IBEW #558, charter member of Underwood/Petersville Volunteer Fire Department, amateur Hamm radio operator, and retired from Reynolds after 32 years.

   Visitation is today, October 7, 2012 from 5-9 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Monday, October 8, 2012 at 1 p.m. in Greenview Memorial Chapel with burial in Greenview Memorial Park. Officiating will be Brother Phil Cooper and the Rev. Chris Compton. Military funeral honors will be accorded at graveside.
   Mr. Gable is preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy Gable and Edna Gable Risner, son, Michael Gable, siblings, Jean, James Edward and Aaron and daughter-in-law, Orene Gable.
   He is survived by his wife, Verlia Mae Roberson Gable, the love of his life for 68 years, son, Lowell Dwaine Gable, daughter, Donna Abernathy(Jimmy), brother, Norman Gabel(Elaine), sisters, Joyce Marshall and Lois Liles, grandchildren, Darlene, Tim, and Cindy Gable, Adam and Hannah Catherine Abernathy, great grandchildren, Phillip and Jessica Gable, and Trinity and Jordan James. A host of nieces, nephews and many friends also survive.
   Pallbearers will be Dwaine Gable, Adam Abernathy, Tim Gable, Carl Hamm,  Terry Hamm, and Tinker Boyd.
   Robert was a kind, sincere and devoted man who many lives were touched by knowing him. He brought much joy and happiness to all who knew him.
   The family wishes to thank Dad’s caregivers at Mitchell-Hollingsworth and to Dr.’s Mitchell and Bartmess.
