Robert James "Bobby" Young Robert James “Bobby” Young, 77, retired employee of Occidental Chemical Company and resident of Columbia, died Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at Williamson Medical Center.

A private family service will be held Saturday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com.

Born March 31, 1943 in Maury County, he was the son of the late Luther Young and the late Louise Russell Young. He worked for Occidental Chemical Company for 22 years and then worked for Education Insights. Mr. Young was a family man who loved his family, hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Louise Gray Young of Columbia; daughter, Candy Baxter of Hampshire; granddaughter, Jennifer (JR) Diehl of Lynnville; great grandchildren, Landon Church, Robert Nathan Pierce, and Madison Diehl all of Lynnville; special sisters-in-law, Debbie Wiley and Judy Gray; and brother-in-law, Sam Gray.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Bryan Pierce.

Active pallbearers will be Terry Gray, William Baxter, Logan Baxter, Dale Davidson, Mark DeLoy, and Danny Davidson. Honorary pallbearers include Jerry Nichols, Jimmy Haywood, and Herbie Church.
