Robert Glenn “Sam” Harper, age 78, of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, died, Friday, May 5, 2017. The visitation will be Tuesday, May 9th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. There will be a graveside service at 1:30 p.m. at Barton Cemetery with Bill Newman officiating.

Sam was a native of Wayne County Tennessee but lived most of his life in Muscle Shoals. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, machinist and longtime plant manager of Mid South Extrusion Die.

He was a loving and devoted husband, father, PawPaw, brother, and uncle. He loved Alabama Football. ROLL TIDE!

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas A. Harper; mother, Lillie Harper Moore; sister, Von Burns and husband J.M.; nephew, Jimmy Looney, special sisters-in-law, Bernice Solomon and Tootsie Waddell and husband Charles.

Survivors include his loving wife of 39 years, Sandra K. Harper; son, Douglas Young and wife Sonya; grandson, Joel Young; brothers, Aaron Harper, Doug Harper and wife Charlotte, special brother-in-law, Jim Solomon; sister, Margaret Looney and husband Buddy, special nieces, Dena Richardson, Sharon Ivey, Vicki Odom; special nephews, Ken Solomon, Joey Solomon, Jimmy Burns and Macy Looney, and beloved pet “Mollie.”

Pallbearers will be Ken Tate, Jerry Plaxco, Jimmy Burns, Ken Solomon, Murphy Odom, and George Lee.

Honorary pallbearers will be Melvin Sparks, Jim Solomon, Buddy Looney, Norm Wool, and Tim Martin.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Research Hospital.
