Robert Franklin Midgett, 87, passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer at his residence surrounded by his family. He was a native of Colbert County

Robert was a devoted father and grandfather. He was a member of Valdosta Church of Christ. He loved to be outdoors and be on the boat fishing. He owned his own business, Midgett’s Auto Service for many years in Tuscumbia, Alabama. He retired and then his passion became driving a tour bus around the world.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Midgett; grandsons, Brandon and Cody; sister, Irene Holt; and brothers, Roy Midgett and Thomas Midgett; parents, Claude and Ruby Midgett.

He is survived by his daughter, Robin Posey (husband, Kevin Childers); grandson, Taylor Posey; sister, Peggy Newman; one niece and several nephews.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to Hospice of North Alabama for the love and care that they gave him during his long battle with cancer, with a special thanks to Daniel Freeman, Lisa Chandler, Tonia Judd, and Lindsey Rideout.

No services are planned currently. Elkins East Chapel is assisting the family.
