Robert Frank (Fuller) Meade Sr., 67, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016, after his long, hard fight from an extended illness.
Rob was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Jr. and Esther Meade, and his brother, James E. (Jimmie) Meade.
Mr. Meade, born on March 8, 1948, was a proud Tuscumbia native and served in the United States Army and was a disabled veteran of the Vietnam War. Rob retired from the UA Local 760 of Plumbers and Pipefitters after 30 plus years of service. Robert also worked for LaRoche Industries for 13 years.
Rob and Phyllis G. Meade were united in holy matrimony on Dec. 1, 1979. Their marriage was blessed with two children a son, Robert F. Meade II, Sheffield, Alabama, and a daughter, Kelli R. Meade, Memphis, Tennessee.
Rob leaves behind a loving family of five siblings, Richard (Vickie) Meade III, Knoxville, Tennessee, Nellie Langley, Tuscumbia, Alabama, Michael (Chiquita) Meade, Muscle Shoals, Alabama, William (Ollie) Meade, Scottsboro, Alabama, and Col. Clarence (Sharyn) Meade, Madison, Alabama; one very precious granddaughter, Robynn F. Meade, Sheffield, Alabama; mother-in-law, Lula Goodloe, Cherokee, Alabama; sisters-in-law, Doris Meade, Tuscumbia, Alabama, and Roselyn Johnson, Sheffield, Alabama, Molly (Larry) Williams, Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. Emma (Charles) Haley, Cherokee, Alabama, and Pamela Goodloe, Riverdale, Georgia; brother-in-law, Rodney Goodloe, Barton, Alabama; aunts, Lula Young and Nancy Summerhill, all of Tuscumbia, Alabama, Pearline Allen, Louisville, Kentucky, Louise Meade, Tuscumbia, Alabama, and Sadie Willingham, Tuscumbia, Alabama; uncles, Willie L. Byrd, New Orleans, Louisiana, and Murray (Judi) Johnson, Tuscumbia, Alabama; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation with the family will be Thursday, 6-7 p.m., at Thompson and Son Funeral Home, Tuscumbia, Alabama.
Funeral services for Mr. Meade will be 11 a.m., Friday, Feb. 19, 2016, at First Missionary Baptist Church, Tuscumbia, Alabama, with the Rev. Otis B. Smith, officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Shoals Memorial Gardens, Tuscumbia, Alabama. The public viewing will be Thursday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thompson and Son Funeral Home, Tuscumbia, is directing.
