Robert Earl McMurtrey – Obituary

 Robert Earl McMurtrey, age 81, of Rogersville, died Tuesday, March 18, 2014. Visitation will be Thursday, 1-3 p.m. at Elkins East Chapel. His funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Marty Raybon officiating. Burial will be in Butler Cemetery.

     Mr. McMurtrey served in the U. S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a Purple Heart and Bronze Star recipient. He was retired from Reynolds as an Iron Worker. He was preceded in death by his wife Jeanette Davis McMurtrey and his parents, Emmitt and Bessie McMurtrey.
     Survivors include his son; Ricky McMurtrey (Sandra); Debra Hunt (Jamie), Sandy Maddox (David), Mickey Stell (Bill); brother, Harold McMurtrey (Faye), twelve grandchildren, twenty three great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
     Pallbearers are grandsons; Joel Maddox, Eric McMurtrey, Trevor Stell, Tyler Stell, Blake McMurtrey and Vince Lewis.
The family expresses special thanks to the staff of Hospice of Tennessee Valley and to Dr. Hollis, Dr. Lango and Dr. Smith.
