Robert Edward “Bobby Slack, 65, of Hartselle, died on Monday, May 6, 2013 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was born November 9, 1947, in Forrest County, Mississippi to Rev. Robert R. Slack and Mary Dell Weatherford Slack. He was a 1966 graduate of Morgan County High School and attended Samford University and Calhoun Community College.

Known as a carpenter and licensed contractor working in residential, commercial, and industrial construction all over North Alabama and Gulf Shores. He operated his own construction management business in most recent years.Mr. Slack was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War serving as Sergeant, and awarded the Bronze Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, 2-OS Bars and Vietnam Cross. Bobby loved gardening, fishing and cooking for family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a step-son, Charles David Clark.

Survivors include : his Wife, Shirley Slack, wife of 12 years, Hartselle, AL

One Son: Robert Randolph Slack, III, Hartselle, AL

One Step-Daughter: Rhonda Clark Achord (Jim), Decatur, AL

Two Sisters: Martha D. Mooney (Mike), Plano, TX and Sue A. Hayes (Bill), Hartselle, AL

Three Nieces: Jessica Mooney Putnam, (Jon), Marianne Hayes Campbell, (Chris), and Erin Hayes

One Nephew: Alex Mooney

Two Great Nieces and Two Great Nephews

Funeral service for Robert E. “Bobby” Slack, 65, will be Thursday, May 9, 2013 at 10:00 PM at East Highland Baptist Church with Rev. Walter Blackman,Rev. A. Ray Lee, and Bro. Christopher Campbell officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Hartselle Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 8, 2013 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be jason Hart, Joey McGoldrick, Kevin Lockhart, Fred Abernathy, shane Jackson, and Chris Waldrep .

Honorary Pallbearers will be Mike Hagamaker, David Teague, Larry Manly, and Judge Glenn Thompson
