Robert Donald Johnson, age 78 of Estill Fork, Alabama, passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at Southern Tennessee Regional Health Systems in Winchester. He was born in Francisco, Alabama on June 7, 1942 to the late Edward Gardner and Minnie Allene (Payne) Johnson. Robert served his county for six years in the United States Army as a Captain during the Vietnam Era, in which he was a helicopter pilot. Following his military service, Robert worked for Tide Products Inc., where he was plant superintendent in Dothan, Alabama, Hearne, Texas, and Doerun, Georgia, as well as for Terra International in Sylvester, Georgia as a location manager and sales supervisor. He also worked and retired after seventeen years from the Franklin County Co-Op, where he was employed as a sales and fieldman. A true nature lover, Robert enjoyed spending time in his “He” shed, and he also enjoyed watching westerns and the Andy Griffith Show. Robert valued the time spent with his beloved family, especially his grandchildren Robert and Maria, and his dog, Dolly Jo. He was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his niece, Lisa Tankersly. Robert is survived by his wife, Rosalinda “Rosie” Johnson of Estill Fork, Alabama; daughter, Dorrie Johnson (Greg) Love of Fayetteville, Georgia; grandchildren, Robert Theodore Marsh of Fayetteville, Georgia, and Maria Rose Marsh of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; step-grandchildren, Austin (Jaime) Love of Commerce, Georgia, and Alec Love of Atlanta, Georgia; step-great-granddaughter, Jaycee Love of Commerce, Georgia; siblings, Joyce Johnson Zajonc of Winchester, Wayne Johnson of Tinsley Park, Illinois, Martha Ann (James) Archey of Scottsboro, Alabama, Rosemary Butler of Colorado, Joe (Patsy) Johnson of Mayesville, Alabama, and Nina Sue (Ellis) Cox of Huntsville, Alabama; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, October 19, 2020 at Beechgrove Cemetery in Francisco, Alabama with military honors bestowed.
