Robert Dean Sykes – Obituary

Robert Dean Sykes, 88, of Florence, passed away June 24, 2013. He was a member of IBEW 558, retired from TVA, and was a US Navy veteran of WWII where he served on the USS Summers and the USS Lake Champagne.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 27, 2013 from 11 – 12 Noon at Greenview Funeral Home with a graveside service following at 12:30 p.m. in Stony Point Church of Christ Cemetery. Officiating will be Dickey Howard.
Mr. Sykes was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Myrtle Sykes; sisters, Bernice Johnson, Laverne Mize.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marie Thrasher Sykes; 8 nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Ray McDaniel, Ed Thrasher, Ralph De Sanctis, Raymond Scott, Malcolm Wilkes, and Granville Mize.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Stony Point Church of Christ Cemetery Fund.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nursing staff of The Summit at Mitchell-Hollingsworth Rehabilitation Center for care given to Mr. Sykes.
