Robert Dean “Bob” Rummel, 87, formerly of Florence, passed away April 24, 2018. A memorial service will be held April 28, 2018, 11 a.m. at Roswell Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to North Fulton Community Charities, Roswell, Georgia.
Bob was born November 12, 1930, in New Florence, Pennsylvania, to John Wesley and Olive Viola Medsger Rummel. He was preceded in death by his parents and his seven brothers and sisters. Bob was graduated from New Florence High School at the age of 15. After five years of working on the Johnstown Tribune, he entered the University of Pennsylvania on a navy scholarship. He was graduated in 1955 and then served in the U.S. Navy for three years. In 1954, before going on a naval cruise, he met his future wife, Nancy Brown Rummel, whom he loved dearly. They were married in 1956. No matter the circumstances, she came first in his life along with their four children, Susan Anderson (Michael), Marietta, Georgia, Robert Dean “Skip” Rummel, Jr. (Tracie), Northport, Alabama, Elizabeth Baioni (Richard), Nashville, Tennessee and Amy Moosbrugger (Mitchell), Marietta, Georgia; and eight grandchildren. Bob was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
