Mr. Robert Dean Benson, Sr., age 71, a resident of Columbia, passed away Friday morning, January 6, 2017 at his residence.
Born on July 21, 1945 in Princeton, Illinois, Robert was the son of the late Frederick Julius Benson and the late Margaret Mau Benson. He served his country in the United States Air Force and worked as an architect. He enjoyed flying model airplanes and spending time on his computer. He even built his own computers and televisions.
He is survived by his wife: Vicki Sarver Benson of Columbia; sons: Harold (Karen) Brown, Jr. of Lewisburg, Robert Dean Benson, Jr. of Lewisburg; sisters: Carol (Ronald) Williams of Bloomington, IL, Lynda (Sam) Smith of Bloomington, IL, Jeannie (Jack) Rigert of St. Charles, IL; four grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister: Carolyn Jean Benson.
