Robert Buren Hunt, 94 of Arab passed away Monday, March 2, 2026, at the Floyd E. Tut Fann VA Home in Huntsville. He was born June 1, 1931, in Arab the son of Martin Van Buren “Bus” Hunt and Susie Mae Alexander Hunt. He served in the United States Navy throughout the Korean War and was awarded two Bronze Star Medals. He returned home to Arab after completing his military service, then continued his education and graduated from Arab High School. He married Irene Narbone, the love of his life, on July 13, 1953. He retired from the State of Alabama Soil Conversation Department. He took great interest in hunting, fishing, gardening, and was a dedicated supporter of Alabama football.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Irene Hunt; children: Yvonne (Morris) Hornbuckle, Bobby Hunt and Tyrell Nicholas Hunt; brother: Mickey (Gail) Hunt; sister-in-law: Nancy Hunt; grandchildren: Justin (Mary) Hornbuckle, Jennifer (Patrick) Wirth and Rob Hunt; great grandchildren: Asher and Paxton; host of nieces, nephews and many other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents: Bus and Susie Hunt and a brother: Franklin Dale Hunt.
Celebration of Life Service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Gober Funeral Chapel with Nicky James officiating and Eulogy by Don Hill.
