Robert Boyd Pearson Sr., 76, died Monday, Sept. 12, 2017. He was a graduate of Hillsborough High School in Tampa, Florida, of Polk Community College in Lakeland, Florida, and was a 32nd degree Mason. He lived the first half of his life in Tampa, Florida before moving to Red Bay, Alabama in 1977. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Red Bay, Alabama. He worked at Colbert Steam Plant and retired from TVA after 27 years.
Mr. Pearson was preceded in death by his son, Robert Boyd Pearson Jr.; his parents, Boyd Pearson and Gladys Ledbetter Pearson; and his brother, Donald Pearson.
Mr. Pearson is survived by his children, Chris Pearson (Mary Lynn), of Tampa, Florida, Valerie Fowler (Scott), Grass Valley, California, and Scott Pearson (Leigh), of Madison, Alabama, and stepson, Charles Gonzalez (Mary), of Tampa, Florida. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Dana, Matthew, Abigail, Raegan, Caroline, Calum, Christopher, Korin, Bob, Jeff, Jeshua, Josiah, Love, and Grace; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will have a private visitation today at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Alabama. Friends of the family are invited to a graveside service at Red Bay City Cemetery today at 3 p.m.
The family expresses special thanks to the staff at Regency Retirement Village of Huntsville, Alabama, Huntsville in Home Care, SeniorCare of Huntsville, and North Alabama Hospice for caring for Mr. Pearson in his final days. The family also would like to thank First Baptist Church of Red Bay for hosting the family for lunch on the day of the funeral.
