Robert “Bob“ Madsen, age 90, of Lawrenceburg, TN passed away Friday, August 02, 2013 at NHC Healthcare of Lawrenceburg in Lawrenceburg, TN.
He was born February 1, 1923 in Garden Plains, IL. He graduated from Lyndon High School in 1941 and then enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served his country honorably. He served in World War II on the USS Mettawee, a gasoline tanker that had the dangerous task of transporting gasoline to fleets of warships and to remote Navy stations. He was then employed by the Eureka Company in Rock Falls, IL and later by McLaughlin Body Company in Moline, IL where he worked as a welder. He was married to his wife Theda Gibson Madsen for 46 years.
Bob was a member of the Coleman United Methodist Church. He enjoyed reading, gardening, and spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed!
He was preceded in death by his parents, Christian and Ena Reggelsen Madsen; his wife, Theda Madsen; one sister, Helen Dunlap; and three brothers, Hans, John, and Ralph Madsen.

Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM Monday, August 05, 2013 at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 2:00 PM Monday, August 05, 2013, with Rickey Wade and Rev. Paul Powell officiating. Interment will follow at Mimosa Cemetery in Lawrenceburg, TN with full military honors.
