Robert “Bob” Edward Sherrill Sr. 75, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie Dee Sherrill and Daisy Pearl Ledlow Sherrill, and his brother, Ronnie Sherrill.
He is survived by his loving wife, Edna L. Sherrill; daughter, Denise S. Long; son, Tony Giannotti; daughter, Tracye L. Sherrill (Debra); daughter, Sherri G. Sherman (Glenn); son, Robert E. Sherrill Jr. (Annette); grandchildren, Adam Chaney (Terah), April Chaney, Derek Giannotti, Mathieu Miner (Alicia), Kalli Behm (John), Brittney Lavery (Kirk), Jennifer Sherman, and Kyle Sherman; six great-grandchildren; brother, Larry Sherrill; sister-in-law, Diane Sherrill; and numerous extended family and friends.
Bob served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and retired as a master sergeant with more than 20 years of service. He then went on to retire from the Commonwealth of Virginia after 22 years. Bob was founder and president of Enon Remodelers, LLC. Bob was an active member of Bermuda Hundred United Methodist Church serving as treasurer, member of the choir, and on the leadership committee. Bob was also an officer, member and contributor to the Chester YMCA.
The family will receive family and friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 27, 2017, and 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017, at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home, 3050 W. Hundred Rd. Chester, VA 23831. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017, at the funeral home. A burial will take place at a later date in the Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia.
