Funeral services for Mr. Robert Allen Abbott, age 80, will be Thursday May 7, 2026, at 2pm in the chapel of Shelton Funeral Home with Nickey McMinn officiating. Burial will follow in Bowers Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday May 7, 2026, from 11am until service time in the chapel of Shelton Funeral Home.
Mr. Abbott, a retired operator and foreman for 34 years for the Gibson County Highway Department, passed away at his home Tuesday May 5, 2026. He loved fishing, rabbit hunting, watching Nascar Racing and Westerns, and spending time with his family.
Mr. Abbott was preceded in death by his parents Thomas Henry and Katie Abbott; and Asher James Boyd.
Mr. Abbott is survived by his wife of 54 years, Brenda Gail Abbott; three daughters, Sheila Williams (Ronald “Bombom”), Mary Abbott both of Trenton, TN, and Lisa Dicus (Garry) of Paris, TN; six grandchildren, Crystal, Samantha, April, Thomas, Hunter, and Alexis; and eleven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Thomas, Stevie, Garry, Bombom, James Bryant, and Sammie Porter.
