Robbery of Valley Drugs Nets One Arrest

DECATUR-Decatur Police have been investigating the robbery at Valley Drugs on Monday, January 12th.  Here is how the Decatur Police describe the investigation and the arrest:

“On January 12th, 2014 just after 6:00 pm the Morgan County E911 Center received a call of a robbery at Valley Drugs, located at 1101 16th Avenue Southeast Decatur Alabama. Officers with the Decatur Police Department’s Patrol Division as well as members of the Violent Crimes Unit and Crime Scene Unit were dispatched to the scene to begin an investigation.
While en route to the scene Officers learned that a white male had entered the store with that appeared to be a bat, and a handgun. The suspect demanded prescription medication and was able to obtain a quantity of medication then fled the store in an unknown direction.
The case was assigned to Detective Burleson with the Violent Crimes Unit for further investigation. Over the next two days Detective Burleson was able to identify Thomas Michael Turner as the offender in the case. Detective Burleson located Thomas at his home on Wadsworth Street Southeast. He was transported to the Decatur Police Department for questioning and later placed under arrest for Pharmacy Robbery. His bond has yet to be set.

(2) PHARMACY ROBBERY. A person commits the offense of “pharmacy robbery” under this article if in the course of committing a theft of any controlled substance as defined in Section 20-2-2 such person violates Section 13A-8-41.
