ATHENS-Rainy weather today on Monday, Sept. 30, delayed work on Linton Road. Crews have started taking equipment needed to the site and hope to start work later today if the weather clears.
“We will be replacing all drainage tiles and widening the road four feet for future paving,” said Street Department Manager Dolph Bradford said.
Construction may take up to a month with closures to through traffic at different times during the project. Linton Road runs between Nick Davis Road and Alabama 251.
“We’ll try to keep these closings as brief as possible,” he said. “We ask for safety and cooperation from motorists until completion.”
Motorists trying to get to their homes or those going to and from Our House Daycare may have access to only one entrance of Linton Road depending when drainage pipes are being replaced.
Work will start on the north end at Alabama 251.
