Rivers Dewayne Evatt, age 15, passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2026. Rivers loved spending time outdoors hunting and fishing and he enjoyed gaming and the guitar. River’s father, Chris, passed away in 2014.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Wilson Funeral Home with burial following in Walkers Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 11 a.m. until the 2 p.m. hour of service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the funeral home to help with burial expenses.
He is survived by his loving parents Anita Hughes and Terry Evatt; siblings Samantha “Lulu” Evatt (Ethan) and MaryJayne Whaley (John); aunts Zoy Ferguson-Gulas (Christian) and Tiffany Fountain (Richard); uncle Bruce Hughes; cousins Abigail, Isabelle, AnnaBelle, and Easton Ferguson and Conner Fountain; and god-parents Rhonda and Adam Shankles.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his great-grandmothers Bessie Hughes and Ann Patterson and great-uncle Bobby Epps.
Wilson Funeral Home and Crematory of Fort Payne is in charge of arrangements.
