SHEFFIELD-Audiences can celebrate the season of fright with movies from the “master of suspense” himself, Alfred Hitchock. The Ritz Theatre will screen three of his most popular films on Friday nights in October at 7 p.m. Rear Window will be shown on Oct. 7, The Birds on Oct. 14, and Psycho on Oct. 21. Tickets are available at tennesseevalleyarts.org.

All three of these films are all-time classics that can be enjoyed at any time of year, but watching them in October is an especially good way to get in the Halloween spirit, according to Jennifer Butler Keeton, who coordinates marketing for the Tennessee Valley Art Association.

“One famous quote by Alfred Hitchcock is ‘There is no terror in the bang, only in the anticipation of it,’” says Keeton. “His movies defined what fear and suspense look like on film.”

Tickets are $10 in advance, or $25 for a 3-film pass. Tickets at the door will be $12. Concessions will be available, including popcorn, soda, water, candy, wine, and beer. Seating is general admission.

The Ritz will continue its Halloween-themed events with screenings of the family favorite Hocus Pocus on Saturday, Oct. 29, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
