Ritz School of Performing Arts to Present Concert and Masterclass

SHEFFIELD-The Tennessee Valley Art Association and The Ritz School of Performing Arts will be presenting a concert and masterclass by tenor Ryan Brock and mezzo-soprano Jessica Johnson Brock at 7 p.m., Thursday Jan. 5 at The Ritz Theater, 111 W. Third St., Sheffield. Admission is free.

A 2008 graduate of Florence High School, Mrs. Jessica Johnson Brock earned performance degrees in voice from The University of Alabama at Birmingham and The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She has performed in leading roles at Aspen Music Festival and School in Colorado, MetroWest Opera Company in Boston, and Commonwealth Opera in Northampton, Massachusetts. She was also the New England finalist in the 2016 Metropolitan Opera National Council auditions. Mrs. Johnson Brock is employed by the Boston Lyric Opera.

Tenor Ryan Brock, a native of North Carolina, has earned performance degrees from Carnegie Mellon University and The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. His most recent performances have been with Bel Canto Opera in Boston, North Carolina Opera Company in Raleigh, and as a featured soloist at The North Carolina Opera Gala Concert and at The Castleton Festival in Virginia.

Featured performers in Thursday’s masterclass will be: Jessica Bailey, Amari Gamble, Sara Maner, April Simone, Chloe Sneed and Ben South; from the studio of Gene Anne Gifford.

Accompanists for the event will be Karen Cantrell and Rebecca Rockhill.
