Rita Keown, of Guntersville, passed away Friday, December 2. Rita was born in Huntsville and graduated from Sparkman High School in 1979. She graduated from the University of Alabama, Huntsville, with a degree in Management Information Systems. She worked as a defense contractor for over 30 years.
Rita loved to travel and spend time at the beach. She also loved Alabama football, and enjoyed watching her nephew play football and baseball. She traveled over the past several years to watch him play in various cities.
Survivors include sisters, Judy Gallup (J.R.), Emily Hicklen; brother, Mike Hicklen (Connie); three nephews; two nieces; and one great-nephew and niece.
Visitation will be from 12 to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 7 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow in the chapel with the Rev. Roger Berry officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kids to Love Foundation, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, or the National Kidney Foundation.
