Mrs. Rilla Cowart age 89, of Anniston, AL passed away on Saturday, January 20,

2024. Mrs. Cowart was born in Commerce, GA. to the late Paul and Missouri

Burnette Wood. Rilla spent most her years as Corporate Secretary for Cowart’s

Construction INC. She lived in various states including Lineville, AL and Salem,

AR. Rilla had a passion for gardening, love of animals, and especially raising her

three boys.

Mrs. Cowart is survived by her three sons, Ralph “Buster” Cowart Jr. and wife

Vicky of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; James Ricky Cowart and wife Mona of

Anniston, Alabama; Paul Rodney Cowart and wife Mary of Cabot, Arkansas; her

brothers, Calvin Wood of South Carolina and Grover Gene Wood of Danielsville,

Georgia; nine grandchildren, Charity Schaufler and husband Kenneth Ray, James

Ricky Cowart Jr. and wife Amber, Paige Keith and husband Nick, Andrea Taylor

and husband Daniel, Amberlee Johns and husband Josh, Kayla Hare and

husband Devan, Ralph “Trey” Cowart III, Jessica Benz and husband Johnathan,

and Paul Rodney Cowart II; eleven great-great grandchildren and many other

family and friends.

Mrs. Cowart was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Cowart, sister, Pauline

Scoggins and brother, Lenier Wood.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 22nd at 2:00 pm at the chapel of

Little-Ward Funeral Home in Commerce, GA with Brother John Hodges

officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 12

pm to 2 pm. Pallbearers are James Ricky Cowart Jr, Paul Rodney Cowart II,

Jonathan Ray Schaufler, Kenneth Ray Schaufler, Danny Cowart, Trip Cowart,

Tommy Palmer, and Isaac Palmer.

Burial will follow at Galilee Holiness Church Cemetery in Ila, GA.

Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce is in charge of arrangements

Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville assisted in arrangements.
