Riley L. Pennington, age 88, of Vernon, AL, departed this life on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at North MS Medical Center in Tupelo, MS surrounded by family. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at 1:00pm from the Otts Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Furnace Hill Cemetery. Pastor David LeSueur to officiate. Visitation will be held at the funeral home prior to the funeral service from 12:00pm until 1:00pm.

and Vaughn Pennington

 

Mr. Riley L. Pennington was born on March 4, 1935 in Vernon, AL to the late Lillian and Webster Pennington. He was a graduate of Lamar County Training School. Riley retired from the Lamar County Board of Education as a mechanic. He enjoyed eating catfish and getting to attend his Senior Citizens Group in Vernon. Riley was an avid domino player and loved to play with his family. He was member of Murray-Shiloh Methodist Church of Vernon, AL.

 

Riley was preceded in death by his parents Lillian and Webster Pennington, sister Paralee Pennington, brother Eurel Pennington and daughter in law Rayleen Pennington.

 

Riley’s sweet spirit and memories will forever be cherished by his loving and devoted wife Isabella Pennington and devoted daughter Phyllis Pennington both of Vernon, AL. His sons, Carl (Angela) Pennington of Wagarville, AL, Michael and Vaughn Pennington, both of Vernon, AL. Brother, McArthur Pennington of Vernon, AL., Sister Anna (Elmer) Day of Lincoln, Nebraska.

 

Paw Paw as he was known by his 9-Grandchildren and 14-Great Grandchildren will greatly miss him.

 

He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. His presence will be truly missed, but his memory will forever be in our hearts.
