The funeral service for Ricky Dale Waldrep, age 64 of Jemison, AL will be held on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Gilead Community Church in Wadley with Rev. Mike Hanners and Rev. Jimmy Sprayberry officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
Mr. Waldrep passed away on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at his home. A native and former resident of Wadley, AL, he had resided in Chilton County since 2001. Mr. Waldrep was a graduate of Mellow Valley High School and had worked as a self-employed diesel mechanic and truck driver for a number of firms in both Wadley and Chilton County. He loved hunting, fishing, wood-working and the outdoors.
Mr. Waldrep is survived by his wife of 21 years, Cathy Benefield Waldrep; two daughters: Leah House Meadows (Mark) of Montgomery and Rebecca Stewart (Kevin) of Ranburne; two sons: Brian Waldrep (Brooke) of Valley, AL and Joey Ray Hill (Kasey) of Bowdon, GA; his mother, Peggy Waldrep of Wadley; one sister, Tina Waldrep McBride (Milton) of Jemison; one brother, Tim Waldrep (Anita) of New Site and 11 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Waldrep and one son, Aaron Nathaniel Waldrep.
Pallbearers will be Milton McBride, Leslie Watson, Cory Watson, Kevin Stewart, Nathan Davenport, Douglas Kirk, Ernie Benefield and Jason Stephens.
The family will receive friends on Monday, June 18, 2018 from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville. He will lie in state at the church on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until service time.
